Pr. Daniel Loisance was head of Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgery at Henri Mondor Teaching Hospital, Chief of Surgery Research and Professor of Surgery at Paris XII University until 2010. His work was devoted to heart failure (surgery, mechanical support of circulation, heart transplants, artificial heart), coronary and valvular pathologies. He currently trains heart surgeons in China and in Burma, where he created a new cardiac surgery department. He is a member of the French National Académy of Medicine and Honorary Professor of Peking Union Medical College, of Peking University and of Beijing University of Engineering.
