November 28 to December 1, 2017
In line with the development of medical cooperation between France and Brazil and thanks to the support of the Airbus Helicopters Foundation, the Medical Academy Foundation (FAM) will organize for the second time in Rio de Janeiro a training course in helicopter emergency medicine from 28 November to 1 December 2017.
With the support of its local correspondent, Dr. Luis Plotkowski, and in cooperation with Dr. Henri Julien, Academician and President of the SFMC (French Society of Disaster Medicine), the AFM will send six French experts for the occasion to train doctors and nurses from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
This training is likely to reinforce and perpetuate the use of helicopters in Brazil as a means of providing relief to the population, particularly during humanitarian or emergency crises.
The theoretical part of the training was carried out by a European teaching staff, with the support of Brazilian practitioners, who transposed their presentations to Brazilian conditions.
The practical part of the training took place with six medicalized helicopters and their crews at the service of the students for rescue exercises and demonstrations.
This action is in line with the FAM’s objective: promoting the improvement of public health in the world while enhancing the value of French medicine; it should be noted that French emergency medicine is particularly popular abroad the world.
